Manufacturing awards motivate factory owners to stay in the game and grow

Chief Executive of the Namibian Manufacturing Association, Mr Ronnie Varkevisser (left) this week received a pledge from Mr Johan van der Westhuizen, FNB’s Executive Officer for Business, that the bank will sponsor the Manufacturer of the Year awards this year with N$100,000 and extend the sponsorship for 2018 and 2019.

“We know that the Namibian Manufacturers Association will host a successful event, especially in promoting entrepreneurs and SMEs – something that is close to the heart of FNB Business,” said van der Westhuizen when he broke the excellent news.

The Manufacturer of the Year awards recognise local manufacturers in various categories for their achievements, market expansion and commitment. The awards serve to inspire and motivate its members to continue being innovative and to raise awareness of the high standard of manufacturing in Namibia.

The awards are also a very visible platform to highlight the important role manufacturing plays in wealth and job creation in Namibia, and the rest of the Southern African Development Community.

“We advocate better working relations and dialogue between all stakeholders such as manufacturers, retailers, consumers and the government. We thank FNB Namibia for their support. Because of their ongoing support, the service of the Association to its members is greatly enhanced and we are able to deliver on our promises,” Varkevisser said.

FNB has a dedicated business division to assist Namibians to achieve their dreams as business people – be it on a large or small scale. “We remain committed to service excellence and recognise the role that manufacturing plays in creating much needed employment in our country” concluded van der Westhuizen.
